Three great teams of LBC volunteers monitored the seagrass beds in Lemon Bay the last two weeks of July. The weather was sunny and warm, the waters were calm, and everyone had a great time doing this important work.Seagrasses were abundant in some locations and sparce in other locations. While there were some macro-algae found in some of the monitoring sites, happily, macro-algae were not as prevalent as they were last summer. Summer monitoring of seagrass provides the Eyes on Seagrass program an update on conditions that existed in April. This data is an important bellwether for water quality conditions in our bay. If you would like to join the Eyes on Seagrass program and monitor seagrasses in April 2026, please call the office.
