On Thursday, January 25th, as we held our Annual Meeting and launched the 2024 Lemon Bay Coastal Seminar Series. LBC members voted to elect five new board members: Allen Richards, Barbara LaCorte, Rob Robbins, Diane Coll, and Lary Stuhlmiller to serve on the board. Long term LBC president Jim Cooper has moved on to serve as president Emeritus and Irene Slattery has assumed the role of president. Over 80 attendees came to hear Tonya Wiley, from Havenworth Coastal Conservation, present on “The Endangered Sawfish of Florida: Past, Present, and Future”.
LBC volunteers shared information about Vertical Oyster Gardens and our many other environmental initiatives. Students from the Lemon Bay High School marine science conservation club provided details on their upcoming Sea Camp fundraising ventures, talked about their programs and scheduled sign-ups for an LBC members special tour date to visit the LBHS Marine Science Lab.
