Update: We are delighted to report that all of the 50 free trees that were available for Arbor Day planting have been picked up!
If you were no the wait list and did not receive a call, unfortunately we cannot accommodate your request this year. We hope to repeat the free tree giveaway again next spring.
Thank you to our partners at the Florida Forest Service who provided funding support for this program.

*** Demand for Free Trees has been high and all trees have now been distributed ***
______________
Many local trees were lost during Hurricane Ian. Lemon Bay Conservancy, in partnership with the Florida Forest Service, is happy to help our community in its recovery efforts by distributing 50 native trees to the public, free of charge, as part of National Arbor Day 2024. Local residents are invited to reserve a free tree for pickup on the morning of April 26th.
Trees will come in 3-gallon containers with heights varying from 3 to 6 feet tall. We are offering five species of native trees: slash pine, sweetbay magnolia, live oak, dahoon holly, and bald cypress. The pines and oaks are suitable for drier locations, while the other species need wetter sites. A brief description of each tree species is available in the table below.
An informational sheet with the recommended planting method will be handed out along with each tree.
Tree distribution details:
When: Friday April 26, 2024, 9:00 until noon, rain or shine!
Where: Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve, 3120 Gasparilla Pines Boulevard, Englewood, FL 34224

We thank the Florida Forest Service for their generous tree purchase grant!
