LBC volunteer Carolyn Presley is busy setting up the bird viewing area for the winter season. She has graciously volunteered to take the lead on filling the feeders, watering and general maintenance of the area as our birds begin actively using the feeder stations from October through May. Good quality feeders save not only seed, but also help to reduce aggravation and frustration when dealing with resourceful squirrels and opportunistic rodents. Baffle systems and squirrel proofing are as necessary as proper cleaning and care of the mounted feeders in order to insure seed from disappearing too quickly.
