SUMMARY:Juvenile Tarpon Research Net Pull
DESCRIPTION:Attention all new and returning Tarpon net pull volunteers\, are invited to participate in our  Tarpon pull event.  We will first need to load the seine net and other equipment in the Jon boat before using our UTV to tow the boat over to the ponds located by Fiddlers Green. Please use the Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve parking lot and plan to meet at the equipment shed at 7:45 am. After we have finished loading up\, you can then drive your vehicle over to Fiddlers Green and use the carpark there for your convenience. The actual net pull will get underway around 8:30 am starting with the smaller of the two ponds. If you have waders please bring them along with gloves\, a hat\, water and mosquito repellant. Please contact Malcolm Collingwood at 917-915-1076 or malcolmcollingwood@gmail.com to RSVP for the event. This event is open to everyone in the local community that is interested in participating.

Witnessing how these restored mangrove-protected ponds serve as critical nurseries for the “Mighty Silver Kings” and other marine species. Students will explore the tidal wetlands that make this 80 acre preserve a unique\, thriving ecosystem.

SUMMARY:Rock Painting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join us for a rock garden painting session on Wednesday\, March 25\, 2026\, at 4:00 pm.  Meet at the kiosk. We will guide participants on a guided nature walk to learn about flowers\, trees and wildlife then we will paint rocks. Paint\, brushes\, mod podge for decoupage\, and several different types of acrylic pens will be provided. A walk to the garden to leave the art will then commence and a visit to the Preserve Labyrinth.  Kids are invited\, provided supervising adults\, are also in attendance.

SUMMARY:Paddle Myakka River at Bob Johnson Park
DESCRIPTION:  \nLBC members and their guests are invited to paddle with us on a 2 hour paddle on the Myakka River where we will explore the area. \nTentative push-off time is 9:30 am depending on tide and weather conditions. This excursion is an advanced paddle and recommended for more experienced paddlers. All participants must provide their own equipment: kayak or paddle board\, paddles\, pfd\, hat\, whistle\, water bottle\, sunscreen\, bug spray and sense of humor. \nAll kayak tours are limited to LBC members and their accompanying guests. Please use the Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve parking lot and plan to meet at the equipment shed at 7:45 am. After we have finished loading up\, you can then drive your vehicle over to Fiddlers Green and use the carpark there for your convenience. The actual net pull will get underway around 8:30 am starting with the smaller of the two ponds. If you have waders please bring them along with gloves\, a hat\, water and mosquito repellant. SUMMARY:Juvenile Tarpon Research Net Pull
DESCRIPTION:Attention all new and returning Tarpon net pull volunteers\, are invited to participate in our  Tarpon pull event.  We will first need to load the seine net and other equipment in the Jon boat before using our UTV to tow the boat over to the ponds located by Fiddlers Green. Please use the Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve parking lot and plan to meet at the equipment shed at 7:45 am. After we have finished loading up\, you can then drive your vehicle over to Fiddlers Green and use the carpark there for your convenience. The actual net pull will get underway around 8:30 am starting with the smaller of the two ponds. If you have waders please bring them along with gloves\, a hat\, water and mosquito repellant.
