SUMMARY:Vertical Oyster Gardens Workshops
DESCRIPTION:The LBC Lemon BayWatch “One Dock at a Time” program to promote vertical oyster gardening is gearing up to begin assembling oyster strands that will be hung from docks on the Lemon Bay waterfront.  Oyster team coordinator Sue Wills will present an oyster gardening information session on Saturday\, January 6\, 2024 at Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve at 9:00 a.m.  The one hour program is open to all interested LBC members and friends.  Please join us to learn about the life cycle of oysters\, the history of oyster harvesting in our area\, and the important role oysters play as living water filters in estuarine habitats.  Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and sign up to become an oyster gardener. \nAt 10:00 a.m. following the oyster information session\, Sue Wills will lead current oyster team members in an oyster shell stringing workshop to restock our supply of vertical oyster gardens that will be distributed in mid-January. \nIf you would like to have a vertical oyster garden for your dock\, please watch for a VOG installation request form in upcoming emails.  We are working to improve water quality “One Dock at a Time”!
