SUMMARY:Calling All LBC Citizen Scientists
DESCRIPTION:The Florida Sea Grant program “Eyes on Seagrass” is gearing up for the summer seagrass monitoring period. Volunteers are needed for the important task of observing and documenting seagrass conditions in Charlotte County waters and Lemon Bay. \nVolunteers and volunteer boat captains are encouraged to attend the seagrass monitoring training program on June 24\, 2023\, at the Centennial Park Recreation Center\, 1120 Centennial Blvd.\, Port Charlotte\, FL 33953. If you have participated in previous seagrass monitoring activities\, you do not need to attend the training session. You can review monitoring procedures by watching the Eyes on Seagrass video available at https://sfyl.ufl.edu/charlotte/sea-grant/eyes-on-seagrass/. \nImportant dates: \nTraining: June 24 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. \nEquipment Pick-up: June 26-June 30 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.\n1120 Centennial Blvd.\, Port Charlotte\, FL 33953 \nSampling: To be completed any time between July 10- June 24 \nIf you are interested in participating\, contact Jodie York\, Eyes on Seagrass Program Assistant at (941) 764-4349 Tuesday-Thursday to register.
