Join us for a free talk featuring Dr. Larry Brand, a distinguished researcher and professor at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School, as he discusses “Blooms of Blue-green Algae and Red Tide in South Florida” on Thursday, March 14th at the Cape Haze Community Center. Southwest Florida’s beautiful waters are our lifeblood. But red tide and blue-green algae blooms are poisoning our environment, economy, and health costing us up to $4 million a day in lost tourism.
These blooms devastate wildlife, and toxins from some types of algae are linked to serious diseases like ALS, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons. Red tide can even cause breathing and eye problems. Attendees will be invited to ask questions and gain insights from Dr. Brand’s expertise on these harmful algal blooms.
